Leiden-Delft-Erasmus Collaboration

For many years, Leiden University, TU Delft and Erasmus University Rotterdam have been collaborating in many fields of education, research and valorisation. Their partnership has been extended and was formalised through the Leiden-Delft-Erasmus strategic alliance, founded in 2012. The mission of the Leiden-Delft-Erasmus alliance is to collaborate in matters of substance and according to our own strengths, thereby contributing to the academic, social, and economic challenges of our time. 

The three top-ranking Dutch universities enjoy excellent international reputations in research as well as in education. Our Expertise

Strategic Alliance 

The collaboration between Leiden University, TU Delft, and Erasmus University Rotterdam is in the form of a strategic alliance. This means that the three universities collaborate on the basis of a shared vision and shared objectives in specific areas.  The agreements governing the alliance are contained in a set of joint regulations.

Steering Committee

The Executive Boards of the three universities form the steering committee for the strategic alliance. The presidency rotates between the presidents of the three Executive Boards. The steering committee’s role includes inspiring, coordinating and facilitating collaboration in the areas of education, research and valorisation. The Leiden-Delft-Erasmus project manager coordinates the partnership between the universities and acts as the secretary of the steering group. 

Leiden-Delft-Erasmus Centres 

The Centre for BOLD Cities is one of the seven interdisciplinary Leiden-Delft-Erasmus Centres. Together with several Leiden-Delft-Erasmus programmes we seek to contribute towards understanding and solving the major and complex social issues of our time. by working together with societal partners.
