Centre for BOLD Cities welcomes new team members

As of September 1st, our Centre has welcomed a number of new colleagues. Here,  we want to introduce you to two of them: dr. Suyoung Kim, who is a visiting fellow at the Centre for BOLD Cities, and Manuela Puddu, who works as an intern for our Smart and SHARED Cities minor. Prof. dr. Suyoung Kim

Dr. Suyoung Kim is associate professor at the Department of Social Welfare atProf. Dr. Kim Seoul National University and visiting fellow of the Centre for BOLD Cities from September 2023 to August 2024. Kim has been paying attention to the two seemingly contrasting grand trends of modern society—i.e., digitalisation and individualisation—and investigating how the transformations are changing the structure and quality of the social policy system.  While staying at the Centre for BOLD Cities, Kim hopes to broaden her academic boundary to European societies and share her South Korean research cases on how digitalised work, administration, and community change the time-space interactions of people and society. But most of all, Kim wants to enjoy the life of Rotterdam, one of the most beautiful and beloved cities in the world!

Manuela Puddu

Manuela Puddu started her Erasmus internship at the Centre for BOLD Cities this month. Manuela PuddyOver the course of ten weeks, she will assist with tutoring students in the Smart and SHARED Cities-minor, developing interactive teaching materials and sharing videos regarding smart city topics.
Originally from Italy, Manuela is a master’s student in Social Innovation and Communication at the University of Cagliari.

Next to studying, she enjoys photography, music concerts and learning about new places and cultures.
