Robot Rosie Minor Research Project

Robot Rosie Pilot
Robot Rosie is a pilot of 6 months. This self-driving robot will deliver groceries at the Erasmus University Rotterdam / campus Woudestein to employees, students and residents at the campus. The pilot is aimed at exploring the acceptance and acceptability by campus users as well as applications and potential business models for different stakeholders of the use of such robots in the public environment. The project consists of 2 phases: the first 3 months with Robot Rosie 1. In the second phase another robot just like Rosie will be added to the delivery service pilot.

Minor Project
Project commissioner is Tim Klein, Project manager Smart Logistics / Spatial Strategies at Future Mobility Network. Four students of the SMART and SHARED Cities minor contribute to this pilot by doing research. The students will get the opportunity to study the interaction between human and robot from nearby in order to further examine smart delivery in relation to innovation and sustainability. In this research they will find answers to questions such as; How will people react to a delivery robot? What is needed for this robot to function well? How can we implement technology like this in public spaces?
